What's New for the 2020 Toyota Tundra?

From your first look at the 2020 Toyota Tundra, you may easily fall in love with this full-size truck. This year's model is a continuation of the Tundra's second generation, and it proudly shows off several stunning updates that elevate its appeal. The exterior design carries over unchanged, so the Tundra continues to have a beefy, modern look across its trim line. Notably, the TRD Pro trim for 2020 is now available in your choice of a double cab or CrewMax cab design. All trims have chiseled sides and a prominent grille, but the grille finish and pattern vary by trim. Exterior equipment on your 2020 Toyota Tundra could include skid plates, anti-sway bars, running boards, tow hooks, powered side mirrors, LED lighting, and other gear. The impressive interior design is unchanged for the 2020 model year, but the Tundra now has an enhanced sound system across all trims. Also, the Android Auto and Apple CarPlay features are now standard equipment for all 2020 Tundra trims. Other equipment that carries up from the 2019 model in some or all trims includes a dual-zone auto climate control system, an integrated backup camera, heated seats in the front row, fabric or leather material, a fold-up rear seat, remote entry, HomeLink, a standard or premium sound system, a navigation system, and other gear.

For 2020, the V8, 4.6-liter engine that was the base powertrain last year has been removed. The new base powertrain is a 5.7-liter, V8 engine that produces 381 horsepower. This is connected to 6-speed auto transmission, rear-wheel drive, 4-wheel disc brakes, electric power steering, and other gear. The Tundra's safety features are unchanged for the 2020 model year. All trims include standard gear like smart stop technology, pedestrian detection, a pre-collision system, brake assist, a lane departure alert, electronic brakeforce distribution, automatic high beams, traction and stability control, dynamic radar cruise control and other items.

1. "Payload capacity" is the calculation of GVWR minus curb weight and should be used for comparison purposes only. Do not exceed any Weight Ratings and follow all instructions in your Owner's Manual. The maximum you can haul (payload) depends on base curb weight plus the total weight of any cargo, occupants, and added vehicle equipment. "Added vehicle equipment" includes additional standard/optional equipment and accessories added by the manufacturer, dealers, and/or vehicle owners. The only way to be certain of your vehicle's exact curb weight is to weigh your vehicle without passengers or cargo.
2. Before towing, confirm your vehicle and trailer are compatible, hooked up and loaded properly and that you have any necessary additional equipment. The maximum you can tow depends on base curb weight plus the total weight of any cargo, occupants, and added vehicle equipment. "Added vehicle equipment" includes additional standard/optional equipment and accessories added by the manufacturer, dealers, and/or vehicle owners. The only way to be certain of your vehicle's exact curb weight is to weigh your vehicle without passengers or cargo. [Calculated with the new SAE J2807 method.] Installation of a tow hitch receiver or other accessories located near the rear bumper may require disabling or removing the kick sensor, and the sensor operation setting in your vehicle should be turned off.
